NEAR wordmark
A different approach to learning… that keeps pace with the future.

At NEAR, we’re building a schooling model where neurodivergent learners are seen, supported, and stretched. Large classes and one-size-fits-all lessons miss the point. We keep groups small, link interests to curriculum, and weave assistive and AI technologies into purposeful, real-world projects so learning finally feels relevant.

N — Neurodivergent
Affirming, low-demand environments with predictable rhythms and co-regulation.
E — Engaging
Interest-led units that connect passions to curriculum outcomes.
A — AI-driven
Ethical, scaffolded use of AI/ed-tech to personalise tasks and reduce barriers.
R — Relevant
Real-world products, community links, and future-ready capabilities.

What we do instead

  • Small groups, predictable rhythms to support regulation, relationships, and trust.
  • Engagement-first teaching that maps interests to Australian Curriculum goals.
  • Flexible pathways prioritising understanding, creativity and critical thinking over rote recall.
  • Parents as partners so strategies transfer home and into mainstream contexts.

Our NEAR Curriculum

We align to national expectations, then redesign for neurodivergent learners. General capabilities (executive function, communication, flexible thinking) sit alongside literacy and numeracy. Emerging tech and AI are used with learners to scaffold access, reduce friction, and open creative pathways.

Programs are created and delivered by qualified teachers, allied-health partners, and neurodivergent professionals who understand the terrain—because many of us live it.

Small Class Sizes

Deliberately small groups enable intentional teaching and time to explore the why behind the how. We run 3-hour sessions, up to three days per week, to protect energy, reduce overwhelm, and sustain momentum.

Students learn in alignment with Australian standards from Prep to Year 10—supported, affirmed, and genuinely extended.

Small group learning

NDIS: How we align

NEAR classes align with Skills Development and Training (Capacity Building supports). Our approach is also grounded in Queensland Home Education requirements and AITSL Australian Teaching Standards.

Small-group sessions intentionally build independence, social participation, flexible thinking and self-regulation— skills that transfer to home, community, and school.
